Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that getting tuition can be confusing. So we have answered some of the frequently asked questions below. If you still have questions, please feel free to email us at hello@theteenagetutor.com

Yes, if you would like homework set, your tutor can provide it and review it during the next session. Please note that tutors are not paid for marking time outside of lessons, so feedback is typically given during teaching time. If you are keen for extra practice, we are happy to recommend a workbook for your child to use between sessions. If homework is set, returning it on time helps your tutor know what to focus on next. It makes a big difference in making lessons as useful as possible for your child.

We completely understand that plans may change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just let us know at least 24 hours before the lesson to receive a full refund or credit. This also applies to illness.

We are unable to refund or credit missed sessions where less than 24 hours’ notice is given, as your tutor will have set that time aside for your child.

We are a small business, and chasing late payments takes up valuable admin time. If payment hasn’t been made in advance, we will send a gentle reminder via our accounts system. If payments are repeatedly late or continue to arrive on the day or after the session, we may need to apply a late fee. This helps us protect our tutors’ time and keep everything running smoothly.

You can always view your invoices, credits, and payment history through our accounts system at any time.

On the rare occasion that an issue has arisen with a tutor, it has been most quickly resolved by emailing our Head Tutor, Alex (alex@theteenagetutor.com).

We have a brilliant team of tutors covering a wide range of subjects. Every tutor has achieved top grades in the subjects they teach and has been personally interviewed by either Alex or Kieran, our Head and Deputy Head Tutor. If you’d like to know more about your tutor’s background or experience, please just ask.

We are happy to receive any positive feedback, and we love hearing that your child has enjoyed their sessions. You can leave these on our Facebook page. It helps other families too.

Are you an enthusiastic, high-achieving student with a passion for helping others succeed? We’re always looking for exceptional young people to join our team of tutors. We offer flexible roles that fit around your own studies. Our main recruitment period is during the summer holidays, but we occasionally accept new tutors throughout the academic year.
