Terms & Conditions

The Teenage Tutor – Terms and Conditions (“Terms”)

Last updated 08 October 2025

WELCOME

Thank you for choosing The Teenage Tutor, Kent’s original student-led Tutoring business.

Founded in 2018, we have built a reputation for high academic standards, flexibility, and a genuinely personal approach. Our team of exceptional student Tutors work under close supervision to deliver engaging, effective lessons tailored to each learner.

These Terms and Conditions apply to:

•All users of our website or online content,

•Anyone engaging with us through TutorCruncher or any other platform, and

•Any parent, guardian, or student who books or attends lessons with our Tutors.

By accessing our services in any way (including making a booking, using our platform, receiving tuition, or corresponding with us), you agree to these Terms, which form a legally binding agreement between you and The Teenage Tutor.

We have built our reputation on exceptional academic support, flexibility, and a truly personal service. Every Tutor in our trusted team is a high-achieving student who works under close supervision to deliver engaging, tailored lessons that make a real difference.

Please read these terms carefully. They set out how we work, what you can expect from us, and your responsibilities as a Client. If you have any questions, just contact us atadmin@theteenageTutor.com.

ONLINE TUITION

All lessons are delivered online using TutorCruncher Video unless we agree otherwise. A unique video link will be automatically emailed to the designated contact ahead of each session.

Reminders and Access:

By default, lesson reminders and links are sent to the primary Client contact (typically the paying parent). If you would like both the parent and student to receive these emails, please contact our admin team to update your settings.

Platform and Technology:

TutorCruncher Video is a secure, browser-based system. You are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection and a suitable device for your child to access lessons. We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari for best compatibility.

⚠️ The Teenage Tutor is not liable for missed or disrupted sessions if you do not meet the platform’s browser or device requirements. Please check your setup in advance of the first lesson.

Recording Prohibited:

For safeguarding and copyright reasons, lessons must not be recorded, downloaded, screen-grabbed, or shared without prior written permission from The Teenage Tutor and the Tutor involved. Unauthorised recording is a serious breach and may result in termination of services.

Supervision and Safety:

While our Tutors are carefully vetted and professional, The Teenage Tutor does not take responsibility for supervising students during lessons. This remains the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

YOUR TUTOR

You will be matched with a high-achieving Tutor from our trusted team, based on your child’s needs, year group, and subject area. We take great care in allocating Tutors and aim to ensure the best possible fit.

You are welcome to liaise directly with your Tutor to arrange lesson times, discuss content, and track progress. However, The Teenage Tutor remains responsible for overall lesson quality and reserves the right to change Tutor assignments where needed.

From time to time, we may need to substitute your Tutor (e.g. due to illness, exams, scheduling changes, or availability). While we will always aim to notify you in advance and minimise disruption, no guarantee is made of continued availability of any specific Tutor.

⚠️ Please do not attempt to book, pay, or re-engage a Tutor outside of The Teenage Tutor. Doing so breaches these terms and may result in immediate termination of services. All Tutoring must be arranged through our platform for safeguarding, accounting, and administrative purposes.

If you ever have concerns about your Tutor or the quality of sessions, please contact us immediately atadmin@theteenageTutor.com so we can support you.

COMMITMENT

One of the key benefits of The Teenage Tutor is that we do not require block bookings or long-term commitments. You are free to pause or stop lessons at any time.

However, if you and your Tutor agree to a regular weekly time slot, this will be assumed to continue each week unless you tell us otherwise. It is your responsibility to let your Tutor know in advance if you are unable to attend for any reason, including illness or holidays.

Please note that lessons usually continue regardless of school term dates. Unless you have confirmed otherwise, your Tutor will expect to teach during half-terms and school holidays.

Our Tutors invest time into planning and preparing for each session. Clear communication helps ensure lessons remain productive, consistent, and tailored to your child’s needs.

HOMEWORK AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

Tutors may set light homework at their discretion to help reinforce learning. Marking and feedback will usually take place within lesson time, as Tutors are not paid for work completed outside scheduled sessions.

If you would like structured materials for extra practice between lessons, we are happy to recommend suitable workbooks.

General school or exam-related queries that fall outside the scope of your child’s tuition sessions should be directed to our central admin team via admin@theteenageTutor.com and we’ll be happy to assist where we can.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All lesson materials, worksheets, and written resources created or supplied by The Teenage Tutor or its Tutors remain the intellectual property of The Teenage Tutor Limited. They are provided for the Student’s personal educational use only and may not be copied, distributed, or shared publicly without written permission.

PAYMENT POLICY

From 1st September 2025, all invoicing and payments will be managed through TutorCruncher.

·You will be required to add a valid debit or credit card when you sign up.

·After each lesson is marked as ‘Complete’ by your Tutor, an invoice is automatically generated and your saved card will be charged the same day.

·If you have not saved a card, an invoice will be sent by email and must be paid manually within 24 hours.

·All payments are processed securely via the third party platform Stripe, a trusted global payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.

Adding a card on file is strongly recommended to avoid late payment issues. Not saving a card does not exempt you from timely payment.

Fees

·Our standard Tutoring rate is £30–£50 per hour (which is subject to change by us), depending on year group and subject (as confirmed at the time of booking).

·Each invoice will itemise the lesson fee and any other applicable charges, such as late payment fees where relevant.

All rates are agreed in advance and are non-negotiable after the lesson has taken place.

Platform Providers

Our administrative and payment systems are powered by TutorCruncher and Stripe (or any other third party we choose to engage). These third-party platforms act solely as data processors and payment facilitators. They are not parties to any contract between you and The Teenage Tutor.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We understand that plans can change, but our Tutors invest time preparing for each lesson. To ensure fairness for both Tutors and Clients, our cancellation policy is as follows:

·A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule any lesson.

·Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with at least 24 hours’ notice will not be charged.

·Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice, for any reason, including but not limited to illness, are chargeable in full.

·Rescheduling a lesson late does not waive the cancellation fee.

·No shows will be charged in full.

·Late arrivals will not mean we can extend the lesson beyond the original booked slot.

·If a Tutor needs to cancel a lesson, it will be rescheduled or refunded in full.

This policy applies to all Clients. Repeated short-notice changes disrupt Tutors’ schedules and are not sustainable. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

LATE PAYMENT

·If payment is not received within 24 hours of invoice issue, TutorCruncher will issue automatic reminders.

·A late payment fee of £15 may be added if the invoice remains unpaid after 7 calendar days or if payment reminders are ignored.

·Continued non-payment may result in:

oAutomatic suspension of all future lessons, and

oReferral to a third-party recovery process, with any associated recovery costs added to your outstanding balance.

Failure to save a card on file does not exempt you from these payment terms. Clients with repeated late payments may be required to pre-pay for lessons.

REFUNDS AND CREDITS

Refunds will only be issued where a lesson has been charged in error or cancelled by the Tutor or The Teenage Tutor Limited. Where appropriate, a lesson credit may be applied to a future booking instead of a cash refund. Refunds are made using the same payment method originally used. No refunds are available once a lesson has been completed.

LEGAL COMPLIANCE

The Teenage Tutor Limited operates in accordance with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/3319), as amended, and complies with guidance issued by the Department for Business and Trade.

We act as a private employment agency within the meaning of regulation 2(1), introducing self-employed Tutors to Clients for the provision of private tuition services. For the avoidance of doubt:

·Tutors operate on a self-employed basis and are engaged directly by the Client for each lesson;

·Tutors are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions;

·We do not deduct PAYE or provide employee benefits.

We ensure that:

·Tutors are appropriately vetted and provide evidence of qualifications and identity before being introduced;

·Key terms (including pay rate, subject, and session frequency) are clearly agreed and documented in advance;

·No fees are charged to Tutors for joining our platform, being introduced to Clients, or being allocated work;

·All fees charged to Clients are clearly stated, transparent, and agreed prior to any tuition being delivered.

The Teenage Tutor Limited does not act as an employment business, does not contract Tutors as workers, and does not provide managed services. We act solely as an introducer and facilitator of tuition between self-employed Tutors and Clients.

The Teenage Tutor may suspend or terminate tuition immediately where a Client breaches these Terms, fails to pay invoices, behaves abusively towards staff or Tutors, or seeks to contact Tutors privately outside our platform. Any outstanding balance remains payable in full.T
